We make music.
It's a simple concept really, but one that relentlessly drives this band into the future. There is a long road that led to what Lo Dost is now, and there is a long road ahead. The current line-up is Ian Kelosky on vocals and guitar and as a songwriter. Matt Petrarca also handles guitar, vocals and songwriting. Marcel Kroulik keeps it steady on the drums, and the newest member- Tomaš Šacha brings the funk on the bass. What started out as a hard rock power trio has grown and evolved into an international, multi-genre, music-art project with no boundaries on sounds or style. Lo Dost shines live. Well thought out songs mixed with a touch of improv, layered guitars, tight vocal harmonies, and powerful dynamics turn every gig into something not to miss. This is a band that avoids being cliche or stale while not forgetting what it means to rock.
Ian started the band with Marcel after dragging him out of his native Prague to live in Ian's own hometown outside of Pittsburgh, PA. After joining forces with local bass player Billy Gettman, Lo Dost - as a trio - hit the ground running in the Pittsburgh region, racking up many gigs, a fair bit of press, and even an invitation to showcase for some labels. Not long after that, they headed to Europe for a small tour through Czech Republic, Germany and Ireland. After returning to the Pittsburgh area, the band decided they might be happier living more long-term in Prague. With a newly recorded 12 song album in their pocket, Ian, Marcel and Billy headed to Prague and released their first cd "Last Chance of a Lifetime" through a small Czech label. The single "Feel Real" was released with an accompanying video clip which made a splash on the Czech video network “Očko”. With the gigs and promotion of "Last Chance..." winding down, creative tensions about what direction the band was heading from that point began to surface, and Lo Dost went into a stale mate. Ian started playing solo acoustic gigs and the band was somewhat dormant for a while. After some talk it was decided to move ahead with Lo Dost but also to shake things up a bit. Enter Matt Petrarca. Lo Dost met Matt a few years earlier while looking for some gigs in the Youngstown Ohio area. Lo Dost and Matt's band, Reclining Nude played a few shows together and shared a mutual admiration for each other. Back then, Matt mentioned in passing that he had a friend in Prague and had considered spending some time there. In time, Matt did move to Prague and eventually joined Lo Dost adding some juice creatively and sonically with another voice and a completely different approach to the guitar and music in general. The freshly inspired quartet went back into the studio to complete "The Delicate Art of Being Human", their second album. In 2010, after warming up on the concert scene in Prague, Lo Dost was selected as one of the ten best unsigned acts in Czech Republic through RGM Live Space. In an unfortunate turn of events Billy needed to return to the USA, and after a difficult search, Tomaš Šacha was recruited to fill the spot on bass. Early 2012 saw the release of the CD version of “The Delicate Art of Being Human” and the band is currently preparing to hit the live circuit harder than ever and experiment with new musical directions and a live video series.
