Lo Dost

Lo Dost is the musical conglomerate of Ian Kelosky, Marcel Kroulik, Billy Gettman & Matt Petrarca. A group that has been brought together by a series of unbelievable coincidences, it can be said that the story of Lo Dost started back in the 1970’s, when Ian & Billy’s fathers were rocking together in a band in Pittsburgh. The friction & fire of the creative forces in the band has taken them through 5 countries on 2 continents in close to 1000 gigs. Now located in Prague, Czech Republic, the international line up stays active on the internet, in the studio, & on stage where they feel most at home. Lo Dost get their influence from everywhere while creating an emotionally charged, dramatic brand of rock music. Their latest work “The Delicate Art of Being Human” is a powerful statement about where this band is headed.

...here’s how it all started...

A few short years ago singer/ songwriter/ guitarist Ian Kelosky, Pittsburgh area local, set out on an adventure looking for inspiration, motivation, and a new perspective on life. He ended up in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic in the heart of Europe. Traveling with a friend and fellow musician, Ian quickly found himself in a band. Unfortunately, this was not the inspirational, motivational, new experience he was looking for and he had to make another change. The one thing he liked in the situation was new friend and brilliant drummer, Marcel Kroulik, a native of Prague. Ian and Marcel quickly discovered that they had similar goals and, even more importantly, they shared the same artistic vision. Finally, the band they were in met its end. It took some convincing, but Ian talked Marcel into following him home to Pittsburgh to breathe some different air than they were used to in Prague. When they arrived Ian had the idea to build a studio as a sort-of headquarters for the new band. All that was left to do was fill the bottom- find a bass player to complete the puzzle.

A twist of fate…

Two years earlier Ian mentioned to his musician father that his band in Prague was in need of a new bassist. Roger (Ian’s dad) went on and on about Billy Gettman, a bass player he saw playing in a local band. Here’s the twist.... Twenty plus years ago, Roger (Ian’s dad) sang in a band with a bassist named Jack who became Ian’s Godfather and who is, coincidentally, Billy’s dad! The boys never met until Ian approached Billy with the idea of joining his band in Prague. “Luckily”, as Ian puts it, “it wasn't the right time for Billy to come.” Ian, knowing that one day he would start a new band, kept Billy in mind. When the time was right he made the call. Billy came the first day and blew everyone away with his musical prowess. The immediate chemistry was undeniable. Marcel and Billy are a rhythm section made in musical heaven and Ian’s noisy guitar and unique, emotional howl are the perfect topping.
